Jeffrey Scott Walsh was a Master Corporal of the 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry from Regina, Saskatchewan.
On August 9, 2006, the 33-year-old(his birthday was a day before) father of three was killed by the accidental discharge of a comrade’s rifle while on patrol in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, less than a week after he arrived.
Master Corporal Walsh wrote a poem to explain the mission to his oldest child, six-year-old Avery. It was read to the 600 mourners who attended Walsh’s funeral.
